Faculty Committees

In Article VII of the By-laws, the AASU Faculty Handbook distinguishes between Committees of the Faculty and Standing Committees of the University.  Appointments to the faculty committees (with the exception of the Executive Committee and the Curriculum Committee) are recommended by the Executive Committee and approved by vote of the faculty as a whole.   University committee members are nominated by the Vice President and Dean of Faculty or the Executive Committee and appointed by the president.  Through forms distributed each spring by the Office of Academic Affairs, full-time faculty with at least one year of service at AASU may request to serve on either a Committee of the Faculty or a Committee of the University.

Committee minutes and reports are available at the Academic Affairs web site.

Faculty Development Committee (2007-2008)
The mission of the Committee on Faculty Development is to facilitate, coordinate, and oversee activities directly related to the professional development of faculty.  The committee shall help to develop, maintain and promote the services and resources provided by AASU's Teaching and Learning Center; administer internal teaching and learning grants for faculty; oversee the operations of the Faculty Associates Program; sponsor and co-sponsor workshops for forums on teaching methods and on strategies for understanding, assessing, and facilitating student learning; co-sponsor the annual Presidential Symposium on Teaching and Learning; and propose, initiate, and promote other activities and services that provide a supportive environment for the professional growth and development of AASU faculty.
